Making Lives Better. Moving Leaders Forward.

What Is Project Just Start?

Hidden among the 262,000 residents of The 10 are >23,000 people living below poverty.  More than half of those living below poverty are students in our schools.

Several years ago we were made aware that many of these students arrive for school each Fall without any school supplies, and as a result of being made aware of this need, Project Just Start was born.

Project Just Start is based upon this simple principle: We believe that every student, in every school, regardless of economic status, has an opportunity for greatness given a just and equal start.

We believe that every student, in every school, regardless of economic status, has an opportunity for greatness given a just and equal start.

Like showing up to run a race without any shoes on, showing up to school without supplies is an unfair beginning for these students, and Project Just Start seeks to erase this injustice.

Over the past five years Project Just Start has provided >9,000 fully loaded backpacks to students from 53 different schools in The 10. Since 2015, we have been able to collectively meet 100% of the elementary school need in The 10 for each school year.

These incredible results have been made possible by the generosity of Mission Church, our Project Just Start sponsors, and donations from neighbors in our local communities.
